Congrats to Better Wyoming board member, Jai-Ayla Sutherland!

Better Wyoming wants to congratulate one of our board members, Jai-Ayla Sutherland, who was recently appointed to the Casper City Council!

Jai was born and raised in Casper and works for an international nonprofit that aims to prevent mass violence.

Alongside her far-reaching day job, Jai is deeply dedicated to the well-being of her hometown and puts her money where her mouth is when it comes to making a local difference.

As Jai told the councilors who appointed her: “I know what it means to develop solutions that take into consideration those who will be impacted, including those whose voices are often left unrepresented in policy discussions.”

Among Jai’s top issues facing Casper are housing and homelessness, opioid addiction and responsibly using federal funding to address the problem, and ensuring the council stays on mission and doesn’t veer off into the discord plaguing so many government bodies these days.

“We need to move past drama and disruption and toward a focused local government that serves,” Jai said. “We need to retain our responsible budget management and continue to ensure that our core services have the support they need, while also continuing to develop a Casper that matches the needs of working families.”

These are exactly the kinds of priorities we have at Better Wyoming, and one of many reasons we’re proud to count Jai among our board leadership.
