JOIN BETTER WYOMING JAN. 27 & 28 IN JACKSON FOR BACK-TO-BACK EVENTS: A FILM SCREENING + PANEL DISCUSSION ON BOOK BANNING AND AN ADVOCACY TRAINING.

These events will educate residents about important issues facing our communities and empower everyday residents to take action.

The Librarians — Film screening and panel discussion

6 - 8 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 27

Center for the Arts (240 Glenwood St.)

On Tuesday, Jan. 27, Better Wyoming will co-host a screening of the award-winning documentary The Librarians, followed by a panel discussion about efforts to ban books in the Wyoming Legislature.

The event takes place from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Center for the Arts.

The panel, moderated by Better Wyoming Executive Director Nate Martin, will feature:

  • local state representative Mike Yin
  • local Jackson school librarian Melissa Snider
  • Lander school board member Mara Gans
  • Librarians filmmaker Kim A. Snyder
  • Idaho librarian Kimber Glidden, who appears in the film

How shared values build power: A narrative advocacy training

6 - 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 28

Teton County Library, Ordway Auditorium (125 Virginian Lane)

On Wednesday, Jan. 28, Better Wyoming will co-host an advocacy training with the Wyoming Civic Engagement Network tailored to Teton County residents who want to learn how to advocate for state-level issues.

The event takes place from 6 - 7:30 p.m. in the Teton County Library’s Ordway Auditorium.

Better Wyoming Executive Director Nate Martin and Wyoming Civic Engagement Field Strategist Karlee Provenza will provide an interactive training based on best practices and current research to coach folks on how to use shared values to appeal to decisionmakers from different backgrounds.
